Examining Learning Through Dance
The Minds, Experiences & Language (MEL) Lab
The MEL Lab at the Stanford Graduate School of Education is inviting Tiffany's Dance Academy families with a 3- or 4-year-old to take part in a study about how young children learn through dance. Participation is free, and the class runs for 8 weeks this summer.
What the study involves
Three parts, all built for little ones
Over the 8 weeks, your child takes part in a dance class while the research team gently gathers information about how they watch, learn, and move.
Kid-friendly eye-tracking
Lightweight glasses designed for young children record where they look during class. Comfortable and non-invasive.
Games & parent questionnaires
Short, play-based tasks for your child, plus brief weekly questionnaires for parents about recent household experiences.
Video & audio recording
The class sessions are recorded so researchers can review how children learn dance over time.

- Participation is voluntary and run by Stanford, not by Tiffany's Dance Academy. You can ask questions or stop at any time.
- The credit is for participation, not results — families who complete all 8 sessions receive a tuition credit and the class itself is free of charge.
- Questions about the research go straight to the team: mellab@gse.stanford.edu.
