Raising the Barre to Host Halloween Party to Benefit College Scholarship Fund

Livermore, October 16, 2017 – Raising the Barre, a non-profit organization of students dedicated to improving the world through dance, is hosting their 2nd annual Halloween Dance Party. The Party, designed for kids ages 3-8, will help raise funds for the Raising the Barre Scholarship Fund. The event will take place on Sunday, October 29 from 4-6 pm at Tiffany’s Dance Academy of San Ramon, located at 9110 Alcosta Blvd.

Student members of Raising the Barre are hosting the event which will feature dancing, crafts, games, and snacks. The cost to attend is $5 per person. Raising the Barre will also be accepting costume donations to benefit Traveling Tutus.

This year will be Raising the Barre’s third year presenting college scholarships to graduating high school seniors. Former member, Connie Zhou, was the first recipient in 2015 and was awarded $6,000. Zhou enrolled at Duke University in their pre-med program and is also pursuing a dance minor. Last year, three members received a total of $5,000. Karlie Teruya, one of last year’s award winners, now studies film at the University of Southern California.

“Founding Raising the Barre has been my absolute privilege, and I am genuinely excited about the prospect of giving back to the community,” said Tiffany Henderson, founder of Raising the Barre and owner of Tiffany’s Dance Academy. “Our college scholarship fund is a wonderful way to give back to our members who have done so much for our communities.”
