Daddy Daughter Dance
For the June recital performances, the dancers wear a white dress and the dads wear a dark suit. Since we know it can be frustrating locating a white dress we will have some options available for you to order. Check here.
Please read the following information very carefully before committing to the Daddy/Daughter Dance 2016 / 2017.
The non-refundable fee to participate is $99 (includes all rehearsals, dress rehearsal and a choreography streaming video). The fee is deducted automatically from your tuition account. This fee is non-refundable, so moms, make sure the dad actually knows about the dance, rehearsal dates and times and is fully committed before signing up.
Dancers must be 3 years of age by January 1, 2016 to participate.
The Daddy/Daughter dance is great fun but it also involves lifting your daughter (sometimes over your head for smaller/younger dancers), memorizing choreography and several hours of rehearsals. If you have back problems or other physical conditions that prohibit you from lifting your daughter, please check with your doctor and contact us before you register.
There are 6 rehearsals on the following (tentative) dates*(East Bay includes: Livermore, Pleasanton, San Ramon, and Fremont).
- January 28
- February 11
- March 18
- April 15
- May 6
*We try not to change the rehearsal schedule, but this is “showbiz” and circumstances beyond our control sometimes cause schedule changes. If the schedule is adjusted we will provide at least 24 hours notice.
We will communicate with Daddy/Daughter participants via email. If you do not have email or if you never check your email, please prepare now for email communication.
At TDA, we believe in creating positive experiences and lasting memories. The Daddy/Daughter dance is an experience that will last a lifetime! Spending time at rehearsal and working through choreography with your daughter is never time wasted. The memories of class, in fact, are as significant as performing the actual dance on stage in front of an audience. Try to remember this important fact if you feel confused, frustrated and tired during rehearsal. This time with your daughter is for you and your daughter… it is unique, important and very special.
All rehearsals are “Closed Rehearsals”, meaning Moms, friends and family may not watch the daddy daughter rehearsals.
Dads must know and memorize the following information in order to be placed in the correct cast. This information will be given to you on or before your first rehearsal
- What recital is your daughter in?
- What day is the recital?
- What date is the recital?
- What time is the recital?
- Where is the recital (physical location)?
- What is the name of the dance that your daughter is performing in her regular weekly class?
A few words from one of our dads: “The day seemed to fly by. When I was standing in the wings, waiting to go on with Emily, I was trying to sear that moment in my mind forever as a treasured memory. Practicing and then performing with Emily has been one of the most enjoyable and proudest moments I have had with my daughter, EVER.”- Mike

We realize that many dads travel out of town on business, however rehearsal attendance is very important. You may miss only one rehearsal (not the dress rehearsal) and you should try not to miss any of the last three rehearsals, which is when actual on-stage placements occur. Unfortunately, we are unable to alter the rehearsal schedule to accommodate individual travel plans, illness, vacation etc.
How do I sign up for the Daddy/Daughter Dance?
We will begin accepting registrations in October. Check back here or see your Studio Manager.
If you have any questions or cannot attend a rehearsal please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
*Granddads, Uncles, Big Brothers, Cousins, Friends, Guardians are invited to perform if a dancer’s father is absent or otherwise unable to perform. If you’re lucky enough to be a dancer with two moms and no “father”, pick one of your moms, buy a white dress and a dark suit and dance your heart out! If you have two dads, train them both! Since we have multiple shows, you can dance in more than one show**.
**Same goes with the two moms scenario. If you have a different, unique situation, shoot us an email and we’ll figure out a way to make your dreams come true.
