Can Dancing Make You Smart?
What your child is learning in class...
Fall is in the air and dance classes are in full swing. The
teachers are working on building technical skills needed for performance
routines. The first part of the year and through the holidays is used for
acclimating dancers to the classroom environment and introducing new technical
concepts. Dancers ages 2-8 will also be learning special holiday routines to be
performed in class for parent observation week December 13th – 18th.
Dancers ages 9+ are hard at work on finding body placement and becoming familiar
with the dance style and technique. As dancers grow in age, so does the amount
of technical vocabulary given in class.
Dancers are having a wonderful
time moving and grooving to their favorite pieces of music, but did you know
that dance actually increases your child’s temporal and sensorial abilities?
According to Dr. Phil McGraw, as written in his best selling book Family
First, enrolling in dance class is one of the top 15 best ways to create a
stimulating environment for your child.
We hope that you are all finding
your experience with our school a positive one. We look forward to an exciting
year of dancing.
