Showstars: More Opportunities to Shine!

Showstars Newsletter

After 11 years of teaching kids to dance we have discovered that performance is an excellent motivator for our students. More experience on stage makes for better quality performers. That is why TDA is so excited to be unveiling a new program for the 2011/2012 season designed to encourage our youngest dancers to spend more time on the stage. The program is called Showstars and it is our hope that participants will grow into performance experts.

So, how does it work? Classes labeled Showstars will learn their recital dances early. Students in those classes will be invited to participate in at least two local community events throughout the year. Parents who opt to have their dancer participate in the community events will be required to order their costume by the first costume order deadline on October 23, 2011 in order to have their costumes in time for their first community performance event. Students will arrive early to their local performance, hit the stage, and perform. Anyone can attend the events and enjoy the show for free! By the time recital season hits, these dancers will have already performed at least two times on stage and this experience will help them grow.

According to Tiffany Henderson the goal of Showstars is to “give our students that want more performance time a chance to get out in the community and shine. Showstars is a cost-free way for dancers to perform more often so that they’re gaining performance skills, experience, and confidence. It also provides an opportunity for parents and family to come and watch their child perform for free.”

The main goal at TDA is to build confident and professional quality dancers. We are constantly striving to find new ways to motivate and prepare our students to meet their full potential as well-rounded individuals in dance and in life. We are so excited to begin this new program and we can’t wait to see our Showstars shine!
