Letters of Appreciation from the San Bruno Fire Families

The following letters were written by the Parkin/Davi and McCafrey families in appreciation for support received in response to the San Bruno Gas Explosion and Fire that took place on September 9th, 2010.

Dear Tiffany and the TDA Family,
We want to express to all of you our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for everything that you have done to help our family over the past few weeks. The San Bruno Gas Explosion and Fire was a terrible tragedy and had a dramatic effect on our family and many other families. We are eternally grateful to all of you for coming to our aid and assisting us immediately following the explosion/fire. We cannot adequately express in words our thanks and appreciation for all of the help and support that we received from the TDA Family. It will never be forgotten. God bless each and every one of you!

In love and peace,
The Parkin/Davi Family

Dear Tiffany’s Dance Academy Family,
We would like to thank all of you for the thoughtful card and generous gifts we received. We were pleasantly surprised by the outpouring from our community who volunteered their time and provided gifts to meet our basic needs. We are truly blessed to be surrounded with such caring people as you. It has been almost two months, and we are still working to get back to normalcy and are slowly getting there. We are thankful for the safety of the children and glad to see they are not at all as traumatized as the other kids from the neighborhood. It was a tragic event that we all wished never took place, but what emerged from it is a strong community that will always support each other. I hope that we continue to pray for those that have lost their loved ones and their homes and hope that they too will be able to get back on their feet.

Again, we truly are grateful for everything and are happy to be a member of the Tiffany’s Dance Academy Family!

All the best,
The McCaffrey Family

Hello TDA Families,
My name is Betty Leong and my daughter, Katelyn, is a student at Tiffany’s Dance Academy in South San Francisco. We were one of the families that had lost their home as a result of the San Bruno Fire/Explosion on 9/9/10. My husband and Katelyn were in the home at the time of the explosion and our house was one of the first houses that had caught fire. Luckily, they escaped the fire, but my husband had suffered a heart attack as a result of the stress of the fire. Fortunately, he is recovering very well and Katelyn is surprisingly doing well under the circumstances.

We had originally considered taking Katelyn out of the ballet/tap classes because we felt the financial burden of replacing her clothes and shoes and continuing to pay for the tuition. When I had called to cancel, I spoke to Sharon and apparently, she had already heard that we had lost our home. She talked to me and comforted me and told me that Paul and Tiffany would offer us a complimentary tuition-free season and that Costume Manager would replace the clothes and shoes that we had lost in the fire. In addition, she handed me an envelope of various Gift Cards that had been donated by the families from all the dance schools of California. You can just imagine how touched, overwhelmed and grateful we are for the generosity of Tiffany’s Dance Academy, Costume Manager and the generous families who donated the Gift Cards!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!
Betty & Katelyn Leong
