‘Tis the season of giving, and in the holiday spirit Tiffany’s Dance Academy is hosting “Dance for a Difference,” a benefit dance performance on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 7:30pm at the Marines Memorial Theatre in San Francisco. All proceeds will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. Bay Area Dance Company members and TDA students will be performing at the benefit alongside Dance Attack Performing Company. Performing company students from TDA’s East Bay and South San Francisco studios will showcase contemporary jazz, modern, ballet and tap dances from the 2011-2012 competition season including original pieces choreographed by Tiffany Henderson and LoRee Kenagy. Members of BAD Company will perform dances from their current repertoire and new pieces specially choreographed for the benefit by Tiffany’s Dance Academy artistic director, Steffon Long.
Tiffany Henderson, owner of Tiffany’s Dance Academy, is excited to have the opportunity to host a benefit for such an amazing organization. “By combining the talents of Bay Area Dance Company, Tiffany’s Dance Academy and Dance Attack we will have the opportunity to create an amazing dance experience that will not only thrill the audience but help veterans across the United States,” said Tiffany.
In addition, the Dance Attack Performing Company studios in Los Gatos and Sunnyvale will contribute two dances. The first is a 29-member tap production featuring dancers ranging in age from 8-16 choreographed by Catherine Pinto. The second is a modern dance piece featuring high school students who are in the process of working on their college auditions and was choreographed by Cheryl Copeland and Dominique Lomulio.
With the passing of Veteran’s Day, TDA recognizes that we couldn’t do what we love most without the sacrifices made by the men and women who defend our country every year. The purpose of the Wounded Warrior Project is to raise awareness and to enlist the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members. Wounded Warrior helps injured servicemen and women aid and assist each other while providing unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs. WWP is a national, nonpartisan organization headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida.
Tiffany’s Dance Academy is honored to have the opportunity to raise money for an organization such as the Wounded Warrior Project. An organization that continue to make tremendous accomplishments every year on behalf of our soldiers. We hope that you will join us in our quest to use dance to make a difference and give the gift that keeps on giving this holiday season. Bring your family and friends out to see a fabulous show that will help bring joy to someone in need.
