Welcome to Volunteer Job Descriptions

Hello!  And thanks for your interest in helping out this year!

You will notice that many of the jobs involve assisting with concession sales.  Tiffany's Dance Academy is very excited to announce that 100% of the concession profits will be donated to Bay Area Dance Company (BAD Company) so that it may put on more spectacular performances during the 2008-09 Season!  Let's make this the best year ever for BAD Company!!!

Flower Wrappers

Meet the day before your recital to help wrap individual roses in cellophane.   Proceeds benefit Bay Area Dance Company.  PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN SCISSORS! Please do not bring extra children to the flower stuffing job.  This will help to speed up the process!  If anyone has any extra buckets to place the roses into that would be helpful as well! Register for this job.

Backstage Volunteers

Your job is to supervise your specific class during the show.  Twinkle Star Showcase dancers are picked up immediately after they perform, so the backstage volunteer may leave as soon as they go on stage.

IMPORTANT!  Big Show (dancers 5+) Backstage volunteers usually can only watch the class perform from the side of the stage since they need to be with the class for the entire time before the show and then assist with the dancers after they perform.  Parents ARE allowed to pick up their kids during intermission; however, they need to be reminded that IF they take their child and decide to leave or watch the rest of the show they will NOT be in the finale! Tip: bring fun, quiet things to keep your kids busy (i.e. coloring books and crayons, memory games, go fish cards ECT.)!  This will make them happy and your life easier! Register for this job at your studio with your Studio Director.

Ushers/Ticket Takers

Please arrive a half hour before the performance! Meet Paul in the lobby.  We usually open the doors to the theater about 20-30 minutes prior to the start of the show.  Ushers help seat people before the show and also during the show.  Bring your own small flashlight so you can read seat numbers in the dark. Register for this job.

Concession Set-up:

  • Help set up tables and unload lots of soda, water, chips, candy etc… from the big blue truck.  9 a.m. Saturday, June 2.

  • Ice Delivery:  Volunteer to deliver about 100 pounds of ice to the Big Shows on Saturday.  Ice needs to arrive by 9 a.m., and another load of 50 pounds by 2 pm. Register for this job.

Concession Sales Volunteer

Help sell baked goods, flowers and drinks to recital patrons and performers.

  • Pre-performance- If you are signed up to help prior to a performance, please meet at the concession table 1 hour prior to the show.

  • Intermission-Anyone signed up for intermission concession sales must come out to the concession stand 2-3 numbers BEFORE intermission starts!  If your dancer happens to be in one of those numbers, please just rush out as soon as possible!  This is a short 20 minute, high-stress, fast-paced job.  Register for this job.

Concession Supplier This year we have decided to donate 100% of the concession profits to Bay Area Dance Company.  To increase the size of our donation we are allowing "volunteers" to "donate" select items in lieu of volunteering for a job.  Of course if you donate items that can be sold at the concession table you will still qualify to purchase your recital tickets one day early.  Bring one of the following:

  •  1 case of either Pepsi, Coke, Diet Pepsi, Diet Coke, Sprite, Root Beer, Dr. Pepper, Orange Soda,

  • 1 case of 12-16 oz water

  • 24 home-made brownies

  • 24 home-made cookies

  • 1 Costco type box of individually wrapped candy (M&Ms, Skittles, Snickers, RingPops, Rice Crispy Treats, etc...).

  • 1 Costco tub of brownie bites or other similar delicious treats

If you are bringing homemade goodies, please bring them to the recital 1 hour before show time.  If you are bringing soda, water, or candy items you must bring your donation to your studio on or before noon on April 19th in order to receive your special early ticket password for online ticket sales access.  You must also register for this "job" online or by calling your studio director so we don't end up with too much stuff!!!  Register for this job.

Baked Goods Suppliers

Bring 24 individually wrapped (2 per baggy) chocolate chip, oatmeal, or your favorite yummy cookies.  Bring 24 individually wrapped (1 per baggy) brownies.

Bring your baked goods 1 hour prior to your performance.  Please pre-wrap or baggy ALL cookies in groups of 2!  We will be selling them 2 for $1.00!  Pre wrapping these will make life much easier on the concession volunteers!  Thank you!  Register for this job.

Program Stuffers

All program stuffers are to meet with Paul at the concession tables 1 hour prior to their performance.  The dance program will already be completed.  Your job will be to ‘stuff’ them with additional information. Register for this job.
